Step by Step Creating A Turtle Blog

Updated: Mar 6, 2024

I have had people approach me admiring my turtles and have asked me how long does it take to make them. It depends on your time frame and how creative you want to be. I am going to show you in steps how to do one of my designs so you can enjoy the creative side and have fun creating one of these gorgeous turtles.

Below are the following steps creating a Turtle.

First you need a wooden craft template where you can add your favorite craft materials you can purchase these at craft shops in all different sizes depending how big you want it.

You will need wood glue, craft materials can range from different beads, ribbons, bows, lace, straw, bottle tops, buttons it's endless.

Let your imagination flow to create this wonderful Turtle.

The Great thing about making this amazing turtle it's you and it's your creation. Remember the golden rule there is no rush, take your time if you need a rest, take a rest and go back to it later.

Paint brushes are a handy tool to paint on the wood glue, depending on the size of your template how big the brush, you will also need them for your acrylic paint - I use the black acrylic paint this helps do the gaps when placing the materials down.

Paint your template on both sides with your acrylic black paint and wait for it dry do not put on a thin coat and do not put it on heavy, just enough that it's covering the template.

When the paint is dry the fun begins, In this lesson I have selected nail chips they come in different colors and glued them down on the head, arms, legs and tail.

I'm using buttons for my first layer over the body on the paint, I put the wood glue over my turtle and place my buttons on my turtle. Buttons can be found on old clothing, craft and sewing places, Art shops etc.

My second later to cover the sewing holes I have used Christmas sparkle decorations that come in different sizes and glued them over the holes

I have used a nice big ribbon for the neck. At the back of your turtle place a wall hook that you can hang it up on the wall, or if you have a frame stand you can display your favorite turtle in your safe place to reflect on your creation.
